Glasgow's wonderful, Italian-style City Hall hosts many Glasgow events throughout the year and has become an important entertainment venue in the Merchant City area of Glasgow. Other attractions at Glasgow City Hall include the Old Fruitmarket, musical events, concerts, exhibitions and stylish meeting rooms. Glasgow City Hall is close to the St. Enoch train station.

The Hill House

Templeton's Carpet Factory, in the East End of Glasgow, is located close to Glasgow's St. Enoch train station. Built in the late 19th century, Glasgow's Templeton's Carpet Factory was originally refused planning permission and so the owner decided to create an extravagant building, that would be considered an important and stylish Glasgow landmark. With colourful tiles, Glasgow glasswork and many art deco features, the Templeton's Carpet Factory was originally inspired by the grand Doge's Palace in Venice. Close to Glasgow's St. Enoch train station, the Templeton's Carpet Factory is now an important business centre in Glasgow.

Tolbooth Steeple

Glasgow's Tolbooth Steeple is a substantial remnant of Glasgow's old jail and courthouses. Standing seven stories high, this important Glasgow landmark dates back almost 300 years and is located in the Trongate area of Glasgow, close to Glasgow's St. Enoch train station.

The Trades Hall of Glasgow is an important Glasgow landmark and was designed for the Glasgow Trade Federation by Robert Adam in the late 18th century This impressive, Victorian-style building has regular guided tours and a number of large function rooms. Holmwood House

Glasgow's Holmwood House was built in the mid-19th century by Glasgow's highly regarded architect Alexander Thomson. This grand, classical Greek-style building is one of the most recognisable landmarks in Glasgow and guided tours are available. Glasgow's La Pasionaria is a modern statue of Dolores Ibarurri, a socialist hero in the Glasgow area. It also commemorates those soldiers that fought and died in the Spanish Civil War during the 1930s. Glasgow's La Pasionaria is located in the End End of Glasgow and is an important landmark in this area of Glasgow.

The Glasgow Necropolis is located in the heart of medieval Glasgow, close to Glasgow Cathedral. This is one of the most important landmarks in Glasgow and was inspired the Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris. With many extravagant tombs, statues and memorials, the highlight at the Glasgow Necropolis is the enormous statue of John Knox, which is over 196 feet / 62 metres tall. The People's Palace and Winter Gardens, in the End End of Glasgow, is a striking Glasgow landmark, being constructed from red sandstone. Built in 1898, the People's Palace and Winter Gardens in Glasgow also feature some spectacular landscaped gardens, with many exotic plants and important botanical collections.

House for an Art Lover

Glasgow's impressive 'House for an Art Lover' was designed by the famous Glasgow architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh for a German competition in a magazine. However, this house was only finally built in 1996 and features a number of stylish rooms and wonderful, typical Mackintosh architecture. The House for an Art Lover can be found on the South Side of Glasgow.

Hutchesons' Hall features statues of the Hutcheson brothers, regular exhibitions, a gift shop and a visitors' centre, and is located close to Glasgow's Buchanan Street train station.

The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse, in central Glasgow, is the centre for architecture in Scotland. This important Glasgow landmark, adapted from an original Mackintosh design, was opened when Glasgow was awarded the prestigious title of UK City of Architecture and Design. Glasgow's Lighthouse building features four floors, a number of galleries, many changing exhibitions, the Rennie Mackintosh centre, bars and a popular restaurant.

Charing Cross Mansions

Martyrs' School

Martyrs' School, in the Medieval area of Glasgow, was designed by Glasgow's famous architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh and was built in 1895. More recently, Glasgow's Martyrs' School was almost demolished to make way for a motorway and after much protest, the planners were forced to divert the motorway and this important Glasgow landmark was saved. The Martyrs' School is close to Glasgow's Buchanan Street train station.

Chatelherault

Chatelherault is a wonderful and historic lodge, in the centre of a country park in the South Lanarkshire area of Glasgow. This lodge once stood next to a grand palace, which was sadly destroyed by subsidence, caused by Glasgow's extensive coal mining. The Hatrack
